They are experienced in looking after newborn babies. The duties of a Maternity Nurse v Night Nanny are the same, the only main differences being that a Night Nanny may not necessarily hold a Maternity qualification and not be so exclusive to just to looking after newborns. When looking for a Maternity/Night Nanny it is advisable to book them in advance and not last minute.
Duties Of A Maternity Nurse/Night Nanny:
- Feeding, preparing bottle feeds, supporting breast feeding, dealing babies hygiene and laundry
- Supporting Mum with her newborn (sometimes as soon as they leave the hospital)
- Helping Mum develop a routine and sleeping pattern
- Help Mum gain some rest and sleep

Cost Of Maternity/Night Nanny: Maternity staff are self employed and set their own rates, as a guideline £150.00 – £200 per night / £25.00 per hour, they would also require a deposit to secure their booking. They usually work 8-12 hour shift patterns, arriving in the evening and leaving the following morning, they are usually booked for 3-4 weeks, although some bookings go up to around 3 months, depending on Mums needs. The cost will increase if they are looking after twins/triplets, offering 24 hour care or if they are required to relocate abroad for the booking.
