NURSERY STAFF AVAILABLE
Nannies Available
Live Out Nannies
The most common type of nanny, they go to the family home to look after the children, during set days and hours during the week, depending on the needs of the family. We have a wide range of nannies available who are able to look after children, from babies to school ages and who can work either part time or full time. The cost of a Live Out Nanny will depend on their experience, qualifications, duties required and how many children they will be looking after, as a guideline you will be looking to pay £11.00 – £14.00 Gross per hour. This rate may increase if they are looking after children with specific needs such as challenging behaviour or special needs.
Live In Nannies
A Live In Nanny will live in the family home, usually 5 days a week. The cost is usually less than that of a full time ‘ Live Out’ nanny, as their food and accommodation is provided for, the family must be able to provide a spare room for the the nanny. The cost again depends on duties required and number of children and hours required, as a guideline for a full time ‘Live In’ Nanny, Monday-Friday the cost would around £450.00 – £700.00 Gross per week, as a guideline. The nanny would work 8-12 hours a day plus 1-2 nights a week babysitting when and if required, they would usually be given weekends and all other evenings free. If you are a family with a spare room, that would not mind the idea of the nanny living in your home, this can be a more cost effective and flexible option for childcare.
Maternity Nurses/Night Nannies
Maternity Nurses and Night Nannies specialise in looking after newborns. They will be responsible for all general care duties for the baby, supporting mum, establishing routine and sleep pattern. They usually arrive in the evening and leave the following morning working 8-12 hours a night a night, some also offer 24 hour care. Maternity staff are usually booked for 4 – 8 weeks, some up to 3 months, depending on the needs of the Mum. Maternity Nurses will have a recognised maternity qualification, Night Nannies may not necessarily be as qualified but will have experience with newborns. Maternity candidates are self employed and set their own rates of pay, some also have their own contract and terms that they will provide to the family. Their charge varies depending on qualifications, experience and hours required, as a guideline this can be from around £150.00- £200.00 per night, their rates may increase for 24 hour care, twins, triplets or positions abroad.
Before And After School Nannies
Where the nanny just works in the mornings or afternoons (sometime both), their main role being that they doing the school runs. Due to the lack of hours given in this position, it is usually more junior nannies and students who may do childcare and babysitting on the side or sometimes Mums looking for part time work, who would go for this type of position. The usual hourly nanny rate would still apply £11.00 – £14.00 Gross per hour, as a guideline.
Holiday Nannies
Parents looking to go on holiday or perhaps a family who travels abroad on a regular basis with children, may hire a holiday nanny to travel with them. Pay is usually a set weekly lump sum, depending on how many hours the nannies will be required to work each day, level of experience required, how many children and where they will be travelling to. All travel and food costs for the nanny will also be covered by the family.
Babysitters
For childcare requirements in the evenings, we can provide babysitters, if parents wish to go out for example, they may require a babysitter. Our minimum booking for this is 4 hours and the standard hourly rate of pay is £11.00 – £14.00 NET per hour as a guideline. We would also ask families to also cover any expenses for them getting home, if the babysitter does not drive, providing the live within reasonable distance. For babysitting roles, we ask families to pay them the end of the night / before the nanny leaves the home.
Nanny – Housekeepers
Sometimes when the children are older and more independent or at school full time for example, some families incorporate the position into a housekeeping role as well. Duties depend on each families needs but could include: hoovering, laundry, preparing food, family shop and errands to fill the day, if childcare is not required full time. The standard nanny rate of £11.00 – £14.00 Gross per hour still applies as a guideline for pay or a weekly lump some if the position is ‘Live In’. Families should be aware that highly experienced and qualified nannies are unlikely to want to do much in the way of housekeeping.
Mothers Help
A Mother’s Help is usually someone who works alongside Mum supporting her with childcare, the position may also include some light housekeeping, family shopping and preparing food. This is more of a position for a junior nanny or someone starting out in childcare, eventually the position may develop into more of a nanny position, where they will be left alone with the children. The rate of pay for a Mothers help ranges from £9.00 – £11.00 Gross an hour, as a guideline. If role starts to develop into more of a nanny role where they are left alone with the child/children more, you may want to look to increase their pay.

TESTIMONIALS
Gemma and Rachael were really helpful in helping me find employment, they took the time to prepare me for interview and gave me a good understanding of the family and children before I met them. Unlike other agencies, I never felt pressure into going forward for positions which I did not find suitable. I am really happy with the family they have found for me and hope to be in this position for the long term!
My girls absolutely adore their nanny which I found through Poppies. Rachael was quick in finding me a number of candidates to interview, was really helpful all the way through and kept in contact afterwards to check all is going well.
